Hundreds Evacuated from Cinco de Mayo Celebration

San Angelo Police responded to a call of a "suspicious black box" at the Paseo and ordered the area to be evacuated.
San Angelo Police Department responded to a call of a "suspicious black box" at the Paseo de Santa Angelo around 6 pm Sunday evening. SAPD ordered the area to be evacuated and relocated patrons across the street. Upon investigating the box SAPD found sound equipment inside adding that the box may have been left there the night before. According to police no threats were made and officers did not suspect any danger but ordered the evacuation as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of those in attendance. Upon confirmation of the contents of the box patrons were allowed back inside the Paseo a short time later and festivities continued as scheduled.
