Prosecutors rested their case Thursday in the capital murder trial in Austin for the man charged with killing former San Angelo police officer Jaime Padron. Brandon Daniel is being tried for the April 2012 shooting death of Padron while he was working as an Austin police officer. Today, during testimony jurors heard that blood samples taken from the defendant the night Padron was killed had very high levels of xanax. They also heard that Padron was shot at point blank range.
