The city of Sonora is without a city manager and police chief amid a controversy over city authority. Last month the city manager, Charlie Graves fired the police chief and then last week, Graves suddenly retired. Now Sonora city council members are looking for a new police chief who can hire more staffers. Right now the city has only one employee on the force and several part-timers working as officers. The Sonora mayor says city council members will meet soon to consider hiring a new city manager. They've already started a search for a new police chief.
