Jeff: "Seventeen practices came to an end tonight at San Angelo Stadium as the San Angelo Bobcats closed out their spring session with an intra-squad scrimmage. Head Coach Brent Davis was high on the defense which was lead by senior Eli Howard who had an interception return for a touchdown."
Brent Davis: "Our whole defense is solid. That's going to be a good thing for us. They are going to have to carry us early as we are still getting better on offense. You know if you have to pick one or the other, everybody says defense is where you want to have the best talent, so I think that is where we're at."
Jeff: "Fellow senior Lane Ward also had a big day with an interception on defense and he feels that experience is the key to his success."
Lane Ward: "The speed of being on varsity as a junior really helped me out. The speed is so much faster and you really get use to it."
Jeff: "On the offensive side, quarterback Braden Hucks came out firing, throwing a touchdown pass first play from scrimmage. Coach Davis still feels like the offense has a little work to do."
Davis: "We're not where we want to be up front. We're not where we want to be really anywhere. It's harder to tell when you have it all split up into two different teams. I know we're a lot better right now than we were back in April. I think we are going to get to where we want to go. Like I was telling the guys, you have to have a good summer."
Jeff: "Even though this was the end of spring ball, football never ends in San Angelo as the Bobcats get ready to compete in district 3-6A. From San Angelo Stadium, Jeff Corean, KSAN, San Angelo's news channel. "
