Central Football Opens Fall Practice 08-11-14

A little over five years ago the state of the San Angelo Central football program was not one to write home to mom about. To be honest, it was down right atrocious. Enter Brent Davis who has implemented a no huddle spread offense who has the opposition's defensive coordinators scratching their heads and a stingy swarming defense.

Enter Brent Davis who has implemented a no huddle spread offense who has the opposition's defensive coordinators scratching their heads and a stingy swarming defense.

Jeff: "Over the past couple of seasons Central has established themselves as the big cats of the district something that has been five years in the making."

Brent Davis: "For the last five years we have been trying to build this program into something that is a powerhouse in West Texas and I think we're there. But now we have to work even harder to stay there. Those other schools are talking about us now. That's the team to beat."

Jeff: "With coach Davis's program now in it's fifth season this years seniors feel a little added pressure to keep the winning Bobcat tradition alive."

Benjamin Weatherby: "I think after losing the seniors we lost last year it has fallen on our shoulders and that does add a little pressure. Everyone in ancy and ready for the season to start I think."

Jeff: "This season the Bobcats will be seeing a lot of the Texas countryside including a match-up in AT&T stadium with Byron Nelson. That game alone is huge for Central's preparation at a post season run."

Davis: "We wanted to play Byron Nelson. That was a game we scheduled really early for two reasons. We get to play in Cowboys Stadium which is going to be a great treat for our kids and then we want to play some Metroplex teams and get over that hump of not being able to get by them in the playoffs."

Jeff: "When district play rolls around the Bobcats are the clear favorites to win district 3-6A and Central is ready to prove they can live up to the hype."

Eli Howard: "There's a target on our backs and everyone is Central is the team to beat. I wouldn't have it any other way. It's exciting but you have to be able to fight back and definitely go get that next district championship."
