Next Week the UIL will hold the Track and Field Championship Meet. Sterling City will be represented by Cassidy Doggett in the 100. KSAN's Jeff Corean filed this report from Sterling City.

Jeff: "Sterling City junior Cassidy Doggett qualified for the state track meet last weekend at the LeGrand Sports Complex, taking a photo finish to do so."

Cassidy Doggett: "Well my first thought was, "dang it, I just got third again", and thought that I was going to have to hope and pray for a wild card. but luckily it came back and was second. So ever since then, it's been like a dream."

Jeff: "The junior's success is all part of her hard work and dedication."

Sarah Snider: "Cass has always worked hard. Every single day, She has great work ethic and it was great for us to have a kid succeed that was a kid who worked hard. She comes early and she leaves late. She will always do extra. Always wants to know what else she can do. Just having a good kid qualify is really important to all of us."

Jeff: "One of Doggett's goals was not to only qualify for state, but improve from last year. Which she did setting a personal best 12.78 in the 100 meter dash."

Doggett: "Definitely the work paid off, obviously, but my main goal was to not just get to state, but to be better than what I was last year at regionals."

Jeff: "Doggett's passion and success on the track is a family affair, as she wants to run in big brother's spikes."

Doggett: "My brother was a big aspect on track for me. His passion for it was amazing, and of course my dad too. Colton was the one who went to state and I got to witness it, so I wanted to do what he did."
