Just three games into the schedule, the San Angelo Bandits football team is doing things it took a whole season to accomplish a year ago. KSAN's Jeff Corean has more as the team gets ready for Saturday's home game.

Jeff: "This season the San Angelo Bandits have put this ball across this goal line almost as many times as they did last season. They have doubled last years win total, and what is the keys to this season's early success? Preparation and execution."

Luke Collis: "I feel like we were productive all week in practice and we really settled into the offense. We knew the game plan backwards and forward, and went out and executed."

Jeff: "To be the best you have to beat the best, which is exactly what happened this past Saturday when the Bandits beat the two time defending league champions, the Amarillo Venom. Bandits Jack linebacker Austin Benson believes that victory sent a statement throughout the LSFL."

Austin Benson: "I think we made a statement. To be the best, you have to beat the best. We bounced back. We responded to adversity coming off a loss to Rio, And I think it showed a lot of the character that this team is about."

Jeff: "Benson's defensive presence earned him LSFL defensive player of the week honors and on the other side of the ball, Bandits quarterback Luke Collis was named offensive player of the week going 19-28 270 yards, 7 passing touchdowns and one touchdown rushing. According to the two leaders it is time to put the Amarillo game behind them and focus on New Mexico."

Collis: "It's a great honor but on to New Mexico, we got a big game on Saturday so we're getting prepared for that."

Benson: "I was kind of questing, see how we were going to respond. It's about how you respond and I think it's going to be a heck of a ride."

Jeff: "San Angelo is currently in a three way tie for first place with Rio Grande Valley and Amarillo, tomorrow night at seven oh five the bandits hope to see you right here in the stands as they host the New Mexico Stars.
