Former Angelo State Men's Basketball Coach and ASU hall of Honor inductee Ed Messbarger died on Monday at the age of 81. Messbarger joined Angelo State in 1978 and coached the Rams for 20 years, winning 267 games in the process and taking the team to the post-season numerous times. But it's his wins off the court by making a positive impact on the lives of countless people that earned him the respect of this community. ASU athletic director Sean Johnson shared his thoughts.

Sean Johnson: "We remember the good times and all the great things he did. All the wins obviously, but all the lives that he changed and all the lives he moved in the right direction. the affect that he had on people, not just as a coach but as a mentor, as a father figure, as a leader. It's almost insurmountable to try to think of all the lives he touched and the different ways he touched men, and the high standards he set for us all. He fought the good fight every single day of his life."
