8 Yr Old Abilene Boys Setting National Track Records 06-21-14

There was one young blazing track star who was turning heads today at San Angelo Stadium. In fact, he has been turning heads for a few weeks now. 8 year old Andrew Villa of Abilene set a state record at the Waco Invitational by a full three seconds, in the 800 meter dash with a time of 2 minutes 36 seconds and then set a national record a week later in the same event with a 2 minute 31 second mark. There's no doubt about it, this kid can fly!

Jeff: "Eight year old Andruw Villa of Abilene has been putting in a lot of hard work at an early age. Hard work that he loves to do."

Dakota Risinger: "It's a lot of work. A lot of long distance running. Missing some pool parties here and there but he loves the sacrifices. We do a lot of sprints, parachutes, sleds. He pushes himself. I couldn't ask for him to run any harder than he does."

Jeff: "Villa's hardcore discipline continues off of the track as he hopes to one day run in his idol's spikes."

Risinger: "He loves to come out. He loves to run. Track is his favorite thing to do. He like Usain Bolt. He watched the documentary last night before he came and ran today. He sees that he can't drink a soda pop here, eat candy there, but he loves what he gets in the end of it."

Jeff: "When asked why he loves to run, the answer is simple."

Andruw Villa: "I like running, and I just like setting records."

Jeff: "Just in case you're wondering who Villa wants to be like when he grows up."

Villa: "Usain Bolt. Because he's the fastest man in the world:" >>
