River Fest kicked-off Friday night and the fun continued through Saturday evening with a full schedule of activities for all of the family to enjoy.

The rededication of our improved Concho River and the 100-year anniversary of Santa Fe Park is the reason to celebrate this weekend. As a community, this is our chance to show off several new feature and continue to enjoy activities in the area.

Saturday's activities kicked-off with the "Color Up" Fun Run involving almost 3,000 individuals. The 5K run started at Fort Concho, traveled through the river, and ended at the El Paseo Pavilions with a "Color Party" to finish off the race. The runners showed up Saturday morning in all white gear, but by the end of the race after going through six color zones were full of powder and paint. Many even spiced up for the occasion with colorful costumes.

Some of the proceeds from the "Color Up" Fun Run will go to planting additional trees along the river and in Santa Fe Park.
