The City of San Angelo hosted a city wide garage sale at the Paseo de Santa Angela Saturday to raise funds for the United Way of the Concho Valley. The sale was open to the public while all proceeds generated by the city were donated to the United Way. City employees have traditionally been among the United Way's most generous donors on a per capita basis. The City of San Angelo traditionally raises $100,000 annually through its campaign pledge drive and various fundraisers. The city encourages the public to participate in the event either as a buyer or seller. Those who have items to sell take there items and rent a booth. Money from booth rentals is donated to the United Way so sellers are not obligated to donate the money generated from their sales.
