Angelo State softball went into Friday riding a fourteen game winning streak. The Belles would extend their streak to 15 games in game one of a double header to Texas A&M Kingsville before dropping game two 2-0. Despite the loss, Coach Travis Scott's concern level is not that high.

Going into this evening the San Angelo Bandits were tied for first in the Lone Star Football League faceing a WIldcatter Team the Bandits handled pretty easily to open up the season. The trip to the Permian Basin would end differently tonight for the Bandits. The Bandits would jump out to an early 12-6 lead on the Wildcatters, but West Texas would score the final 21 to end the first half and not look back taking the contest 40-33. The Bandits fall ti 3-2 on the season. The Bandits are now tied for second with Amarillo, who trail New Mexico at halftime. The Bandits could just be one game behind Rio Grande Valley after tonight.
The Central baseball team defeated Odessa High on the road by a final score of 14-4.
Angelo STate baseball took game one of a three game series against number 10 ranked West Texas A&M last night 8-7 in nine innings. Today they meet again this time for a double header, a seven inning game and a 9 inning game.
The Rambelles softball teams winning streak improved to 15 games after winning game one of their doubleheader against A&M Kingsville 5-3. However, the streak ended after losing game 2 2-0.
The Angelo State Rams baseball team won the first game of their 3 game series against 10th ranked West Texas A&M by a final score of 8-7.
The San Angelo Bandits have won three games so far and are in first place in the Lone Star Football League. One of the wins came opening night against the West Texas Wildcatters of Odessa. The teams will meet Saturday night in Odessa, and the Bandits know the Wildcatters have gotten better since that opening game.
Midland High defeated Central 14-2 in softball on Friday in San Angelo.
TLCA Basketball was coach by J.E. Todd this past season, but he said it was a one year job for him. True to his word he is not returning for next season. TLCA has hired Cliff Thompson from Midland Greenwood to be it's next boys basketball coach. We'll hear from Thompson next week.

This afternoon San Angelo Colts fans got the news they've been waiting for, news that the 2014 season is just a month away. KSAN's Jeff Corean joins us in the studio with this story. The release of the 2014 schedule this afternoon is certainly music to the ears of loyal Colts supporters. Opening Day is set for May 20th at Foster Field. This will mark the 15th consecutive season the franchise has fielded a team. That's a big deal for Independant Baseball. And so we'll all get to enjoy the promotions the teams front office is working up to commemorate the year. They'll roll the price of tickets back to like they were 15 years ago, five dollars for general admission to any game this summer and also bring back two dollar Tuesday's.
Angelo State Softball is ranked seventh in the country according to the Division Two Coaches Association, this afternoon they put it on the Hilltoppers of Saint Edward's in Austin. Final score was 7 to 1. Dariun Dunn and MOrgan Spearman each set single season records, Dunn for RBI with 80 and Spearman for runs scored with 69. ASU will play two games at A&M Kingsville on Thursday.

Football was not the only sport engaged in spring games yesterday on the campus of ASU. Angelo States volleyball program wrapped up their spring workouts yesterday at the Junell Center. Like football, the Belles have been enduring spring workouts and matches for a couple of weeks. Head Coach Chuck Waddington's focus for his team this spring was to reformulate an offensive attack. Spring games were also helpful for incoming freshman to get a feel for the speed of play that comes with college volleyball.
While we are on the topic of high school basketball, some area coaches gathered at Central high to swap ideas. The Hardwood High coaching clinic took place yesterday at Babe Dedrikson gymnasium on the campus of San Angelo Central. Hardwood high is a traveling coaching clinic which has eight different locations around the state. Three local coaches including Water Valley Boys Head Coach Andy Copley shared coaching strategies and ideas with their colleagues. The Hardwood High Series is a clinic area coaches look forward too every spring.

San Angelo Bandits at home tonight hosting the New Mexico Stars. Good crowd on hand tonight ready for some bandit ball. First play from scrimmage Luke Collis drops back and finds Lemans Cashmere for the first down. That sets up the direct snap to Austin Benson and he will plow forward and make his way into the endzone for the first points of the game 7-0 Bandits. That gets the crowd into it. Later Collis again dropping back, flushed out of the pocket rolls right looks back left and finds a wide open Brian Ingram in the back of the endzone 21-2 Bandits. Next possession a missed hand off Collis corrals it and finds big Alex Joyner for six more 28-8 Bandits at that point. The bandits win their third at home beating the Stars 56-34
Central Bobcat baseball is in a tight race for second in district 2 5A. Midland Lee in town to take on the cats this afternoon. To Donski Field we go. Game tied in the bottom of the fourth one on for Brock Barger, Barger will stroke this one to the gap in left center field. Josh Barnett will come all the way around from first to break the tie and give the Bobcats the 2-1 lead. Top 6th bases loaded Lee lays down the bunt, no one covers first the run scores game tied at 2. Same frame same scenario bases loaded walk will break the tie and the Midland Lee Rebels take one from the Cats 3-2
The ASU Softball team swept Texas A&M Kingsville on Senior Day in a doubleheader. The Rambelles won the first game 10-4, and took the second game 13-1.

The Angelo State Football team was on the turf at First Community Credit Union Field at LeGrand Stadium Friday afternoon for their final walk-through before Saturday's spring game.
It is go time for area track teams with hopes of state medals in clear site. The first step to Austin has begun for the small schools of the Concho Valley. Today's winners advance to Roscoe Highland next weekend. Some other area schools have already participated in an area track meet today. Marina Bigss from Eden has qualified for the region four championships winning the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 16.34 seconds. Britney Childers placed 2nd in the 300 hurdles and Christian Rogers finished 3rd in the pole vault for the Eden boys. With the high school track post season off and running, it looks as though the Concho Valley will be well represented wherever they run across the state of Texas this spring.

Earlier this week the Christoval Lady Cougars golf team won the district 7-1A championship with a solid second round performance that easily erased a three stroke deficit following the opening round of play. They made up the ground by focusing on finishing once they got the green.

Saturday the Lake View Athletic Hall of Fame will induct it's newest members. One of those is multi sport star Levi Cauley. Cauley went on to run cross country for the Rams and helped them to the NAIA National Meet. He says, playing sports was a family tradition.
