LSC Soccer Preseason Poll 07-23-14

In 2013 the Angelo State Soccer team finished tied for first in the Lone Star Conference and hosted the conference championship tournament on campus. But when today's LSC preseason awards were announced, nobody from the Belles team was recognized.

Travis McCorkle: "You know I think that Sierra Anderson for example, I think that she should have been picked as the preseason player of the year. I think that she was one of the best forwards in the conference."

Not only did the Angelo State players get left off of preseason awards, the team wasn't even picked as the favorite to win the league. Head Coach Travis McCorkle says his team will be motivated to win back to back league championships, and this time they want more than last season.

Travis McCorkle: "Number one thing is we don't want to be co-champions, we want to be champions by ourselves and so I think that's what this year is going to be about is about trying to get one for ourselves. Just like when you're a kid you don't want to share with your little brother of sister so we want to win our own championship this year. Also we want to continue to improve, every year we want to improve."
