Lone Star Conference Football Media day Recap 07-29-14

The day has arrived for the Lone Star Conference to get in on the Football Media Day action and this years event was in Carrollton this afternoon. They announced the preseason poll, which wasn't good for ASU, and the preseason awards, which was good for the Rams. Jeff Corean was there today and explains.

Jeff Corean: "When the 2014 LSC Preseason Football Polls were released today the Angelo State Rams were slated to finish 5th. If you ask Head Coach Will Wagner, those polls mean absolutely nothing."

Will Wagner, ASU Head Coach: "This is preseason based on kind of where we finished up last season and where people expect you to end up. Our guys understand that everything has to be earned and hopefully they'll use this as motivation, a chip on their shoulder to go out there and prove everybody wrong."

Jeff: "Rams quarterback Kyle Washington was named LSC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. Washington knows that the work for this season is just beginning."

Kyle Washington, ASU Quarterback: "It's a cool award, it's nice that guys think highly of me, coaches think highly of me, but it's the preseason so it doesn't really hold much weight. Hopefully going into the season we can get a couple of wins under our belt and achieve more as a team."

Jeff: "With the Rams finishing 2013 on a three game winning streak, the expectations for 2014 are nothing short of a conference title."

Rush Seaver, ASU Senior LB: "I've already been stressing how last season doesn't matter and it's a new season. I believe the we have the athletes to compete with every team in this conference and win the conference championship."

Kyle Washington: "By seasons end we hope to have a pretty nice record and hopefully a conference championship under our belt and move forward to the playoffs."

Will Wagner: "We're expecting to win the Lone Star Conference, anything less then I wouldn't be doing my part as a coach."

Jeff Corean: "From the LSC 2014 Preseason Football media Day, Jeff Corean, KSAN, San Angelo's Sports Channel."
