Lake View Softball Tied for District Lead 03-24-14

The Maiden softball team at Lake View has a winning record at 14 and 11, but the record they're concerned with is their district mark. They're 2 and oh in those games and in a first place tie with Tuesday's home opponent, the Frenship Lady Tigers.

Last season was a transition period for the Lake View Softball Program. Sarah Davies taking over as head coach was one change, but another was the players on the field. The Maidens team consisted of a lot of Freshman. They've now developed into impactful Sophomores.

Sarah Davies: "Last year was a big adjustment because it was so many Freshman. This year the Freshman have become Sophomores and they've matured a lot, they're really coming together as a team. The chemistry is unbelievable right now."

Simply being in a different grade at school doesn't make you a better player, coach Davies has seen her players put in the effort to be successful on the diamond.

Davies: "I think our success can be attributed to the hard work we've put in throughout the past year and half, making changes."

Terri Castro: "We've been working really hard this year and definitely improved and our hitting has become a lot better."

Ragen Noriega: "I think we've all had a real good attitude with everything and when we're down we don't really show it and we fight back."

They've been able to battle back when in tough positions because they believe they're going to win. And tomorrow against powerhouse Frenship won't be any different.

Davies: "Unbelievable confidence and they know this is a reality. They can beat Frenship and take that first place spot.

Noriega: "I think we have a pretty good chance of winning district this year but we're taking one game at a time."

One thing to keep in mind about this team is that they have a good time, like today at practice they wanted to say thanks to one of their supporters, Grandma Bob.

Lake View will host Frenship ay 4:30 on Tuesday.
