Lake View Football Camp 07-28-14

On the north side of town this week during the morning hours, Coach Doug Kuhlmann and his Lake View football staff are holding a camp for 7th, 8th, and 9th graders. A little more than 40 kids were present for the first day of this four day clinic.

Randy Ward: "Camps like this one at Lake View are good in many difference aspects. One of those is that the Coaches get familiar with the athletes in a no pressure environment."

Doug Kuhlmann: "It's really an exciting time of year. The camp is more laid back, it's not as structured as regular football season. It's a great time to be with the young athletes and learn their names, let them be around the varsity coaches and new coaches that we have on the staff."

Randy Ward: Coach Kuhlmann understands that the relationships built between athletes and coaches is vital to the success of the overall program.

Doug Kuhlmann: "It's very important I think for the future of athletics going into the school year."

Randy Ward: "Being competitive in athletics is getting harder and harder each season, and so the time spent with each other needs to be quality to help overcome the ever changing challenges.

Kuhlmann: "You know, I think football definitely is a sport that requires a lot of time, a lot of effort involved into it. For an athlete to want to be in football, he knows that he's going to have to put in that time and effort. It's a challenge, and all spots are in high school but definitely football is. I think in Texas football has really become more and more strategy oriented with the spread offense and all the defenses trying to stop it."
