Yesterday the Lone Star Conference announced that commissioner Stan Wagnon had resigned. Wagnon had been a part of the LSC for over 11 years in which the last seven and a half Wagnon served as Conference commissioner. Today the former commissioner released a statemate regarding his resignation, but first here is Angelo State President Doctor Brian May on the matter.

Dr. Brian May: "We are a very very competitive conference. Everybody in this conference from the coaches, athletic directors, to the Presidents they all want to win. Stan Wagnon did a great job for the Lone Star Conference and he was a great Commissioner. But we are excited about the chance to get better and take it to a new level."

Here is the statement released earlier today from former Commissioner Wagnon:

"It's been a great privilege to serve the Lone Star Conference for 11-plus years, including the last seven and a half as its Commissioner. We've accomplished some great things, provided our member schools with excellent service, and ensured tremendous experiences for our student-athletes.

There's a lot to like about the LSC, and the time is now for a fresh set of eyes to look at solving some of the challenges that persist, primarily adding new member schools. I am forever grateful for the opportunity to lead this storied conference and to have been associated with its fine member institutions and the great leaders on each campus. I look forward to watching the LSC thrive for years to come."
