Hospice of San Angelo Receives $13,125 Donation
Suddenlink presents proceeds from first Concho Olympics
SAN ANGELO, Texas (Aug. 11, 2014) –  Hospice of San Angelo (HOSA) received a check for $13,125, representing proceeds from the first annual Suddenlink Concho Olympics held Aug. 2 at Bosque Park on the Concho River.  The check was presented Friday, Aug. 8.
The all-day Concho Olympics featured six tournament-style competitions, vendor booths, and children’s activities. A dunk tank featuring Mayor Dwain Morrison, City Councilman Johnny Silvas, Chief of Police Tim Vasquez, Fire Chief Brian Dunn and Fire Marshall Ross Coleman proved to be a popular fundraiser.  Suddenlink traditionally hosts the largest single fundraiser of the year for HOSA.
“Since 2010, Suddenlink has been raising money for HOSA through the annual Suddenlink Tony Gibson Memorial Bass Fishing Tournament.  With lake levels low this year, other plans had to be made.  Out of this hardship was born the first annual Suddenlink Concho Olympics,” said HOSA Executive Director David McBride. “Through the incredible effort of the staff at Suddenlink, volunteers from the community, and volunteers from HOSA, this event was a resounding success.  Suddenlink came through, once again proving their compassion and concern for those we serve, their families and the community of San Angelo.”
The 2014 Concho Olympics was presented by Suddenlink.  Major sponsors included: KIDY FOX San Angelo, Space Age Communications, D&D Construction, Julio’s Burritos, Wal-Mart, Foster Communications Co., Inc. and Fast Signs.
