Pedestrian Killed Following Crash

Officers were called out to investigate two fatal crashes this weekend.

Police responded to a major crash involving a pedestrian at the 1400 Block of South Abe just before midnight, Saturday. Upon arrival, Officers say they located the pedestrian who attempted to cross South Abe Street near Avenue J, where he was struck by a 2014 Toyota 4-Runner.

Officers say, the male pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries, but did not have identification; the driver, a San Angelo resident, did not sustain any injuries.

The pedestrian was transported to Shannon Medical Center due to life-threatening injuries, where he was identified as 55-year-old, Ruben Holguin, a San Angelo man. Due to his injuries, Holguin was pronounced dead at the hospital.
