A group of San Angeloans are honoring former SAPD Officer Jaime Padron who was also a Blue Knights motorcyclist in San Angelo's local chapter... before moving to Austin.

Dozens gathered this morning at the Jaime Padron Memorial park off Ben Ficklin road to kick off an iron butt run celebrating the life he led. The run covers over 1,000 miles throughout the state of Texas in less than 24 hours.

"Yes, we are honoring Jaime with his end-of-watch being April 6th 2012. But, that's not what it's about.  ...Not totally. What this is mainly about is being able to remember a hero," stated Blue Knights President Brian Bylsma.

The Blue Knights have been raising money for the Jaime Padron Scholarship Fund. Their goal was to raise $5,000 and Blue Knights President said they have exceeded this goal. Bikers plan to return in just hours around 1 a.m. Sunday.
