Terror suspect entered U.S. in "Diversity Visa Lottery"

Trump claims "Diversity Visa Lottery" allowed suspect entry

San Angelo, TX - President Trump said Wednesday that the suspected terrorist in Tuesday's New York attack entered the country through the "Diversity Visa Lottery Program."

The president called on Congress to immediately begin working to eliminate the program, saying we need an immigration system based on merit.

"We have to get much tougher. We have to get much smarter. And we have to get much less politically correct," the president said during a cabinet meeting Wednesday.

President Trump tweeted blaming top Senate Democrat, Chuck Schumer, for being instrumental in passing that immigration law before trying to end it years later.

Senator Schumer responded with his own tweet saying, "This is a tragedy. It's less than a day than after it occurred and he can't refrain from his nasty divisive habits."

The president's immediate policy demands are in stark contrast to his response three days after the Las Vegas shooting, when he insisted it was too soon to discuss tougher gun laws.  Source of article:  NBC News
