New Police Officers Take Oath at SAPD Academy Graduation

Made More Special with Surprise Proposal

SAN ANGELO, TX - The San Angelo Police Department welcomed new officers into the department.

Ten cadets graduated after completed more than 1,000 hours of the Academy which teaches the basics of law enforcement.

"I'm excited, I'm grateful, I'm still in awe of God honestly," said Porsche Potts, a new Patrol Officer with SAPD. "I've been wanting this, and praying for this, and asking for this and crying out for this for a long time. So I am just very grateful that the door has been opened for me. And I can be able to do what I was supposed to do in life."

The new officers were sworn in as apprentice police officers by Police Chief Frank Carter. "Its always a privilege to stand up here, and speak, and honor the oath in front of a group of graduating police officers," said Carter.

One graduating member of the San Angelo Police Academy proposed marriage to his high school sweetheart right after the graduation ceremony at the convention center. They're both from bangs and she said "yes".
