Motorcycle Accident Leaves One Man Dead, Female Airlifted to Shannon.

DPS statement says both involved were out of San Angelo.

San Angelo, TX - UPDATE: 58 year old Curtis Hardy has been identified as the man who died as a result of his injuries at the scene.

The female motorcyclist has been identified as 56 year old Audrey Roe--Roe was airlifted to Shannon for treatment. Both individuals were listed as San Angelo residents.

DPS officers also say BOTH parties were wearing their helmets.

DPS also says the vehicle operated by the man traveled into the south barrow ditch for an "unknown reason, struck a dirt embankment, traveled into a field and overturned."

ORIGINAL STORY

A man is dead and a woman is airlifted to Shannon after both motorcyclists sustained injuries in a crash on Saturday afternoon.

DPS officials say the incident took place on Old Knickerbocker Highway about 8 miles away from San Angelo.

The motorcycles, one operated by a male and the other operated by a female, were traveling West on Old Knickerbocker Highway.

DPS officers say for unknown reasons, the female motorcyclist crashed on the roadway while the male motorcyclist continued into a field on the left side of the roadway and crashed.

The male driver died as a result of his injuries while the female motorcyclist was airlifted to Shannon. As of 7 on Saturday evening, the individuals have not been identified until next of kin have been notified.

DPS officers say helmets were present at the scene of the accident but as of this time they are still investigating both how the accident happened and whether the helmets were worn by the drivers.
