SAN ANGELO, TX - Most City offices will be closed Friday, November 10th, in observance of Veterans Day. There will be no interruption of garbage collection or landfill operations.
Fairmount Cemetery will not host its traditional Veterans Day ceremony Saturday because of scheduling conflicts with other observances throughout the community. Even so, more than 1,400 American flags will be placed on the graves of the veterans buried at Fairmount, 1120 W. Avenue N, at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 5th.
Observed each year on November 11th – Armistice Day, which marks the end of World War I – Veterans Day celebrates the service of all U.S. military veterans.
Fort Concho, including the Barracks 1 Visitor Center, will be open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. November 10-11 for self-guided tours. The fort’s living history volunteers will also participate in the Veterans Day parade downtown at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 11th.
Among the City operations that will be closed November 10th:
- Station 618 and Santa Fe Crossing senior centers
- Southside and Carl Ray Johnson recreation centers
- McNease Convention Center
- San Angelo-Tom Green County Health Department
- Fairmount Cemetery’s business offices
- Municipal Court
- San Angelo Nature Center
- San Angelo Animal Shelter.
City offices will reopen at 8 a.m. Monday, November 13th.
