Juneteenth Celebration at San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts

San Angelo, TX - The San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts was the site for this year's Juneteenth Celebration hosted by "Miracle on 18th Street.

Juneteenth commemorates the abolition of slavery in 1865, which follows two years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation.

Miracle on 18th Street is a local worship group and organizers say the announcement was a joyous occasion, but the time was also a sign of a greater injustice.

Sunday's event was a collaboration of a number of charges and included food for guests.

Miracle on 18th Street grew out of Wesley United Methodist Church over 10 years ago.
