Explosion leads to fire in Houston

San Angelo, TX - Two workers suffered injuries from an explosion and resulting fire outside the The Whitehall Hotel in downtown Houston.

Authorities say work crews were doing repairs on an underground circuit breaker when the blast happened. Flames from the explosion shot-up and blackened the side of the hotel. One of the two workers suffered serious injuries.

Witnesses describe hearing a loud sound, with lights inside the hotel going out at the time of the blast. Area streets were blocked off. Officials said the hotel would be without power the rest of the day.
