Local Man Arrested Following Robbery and Stand Off

SAN ANGELO, TX - A San Angelo man is jailed after he robbed a convenience store and engaged in a stand off with police Thursday.

Police say 56 year old Julio Enriquez entered the store in the 800 block of north Chadbourne took merchandise from the shelves and grabbed a broken jagged glass bottle from a backpack which he used to threaten the clerk.

After canvassing the area, police found Enriquez near 11th and North Far streets.

When officers tried to take him into custody. Enriquez took out the bottle and held it to his own neck.

Officers began negotiating with him and another officer utilized a bean bag shot gun and stuck him in the hip.

Enriquez dropped his weapon and at that point officers were able to take him into custody.

He is charged with aggravated robbery.
