Angelo State University welcomed over 300 first generation students to the campus Friday to learn how they can be the first in their families with a college degree.

The ASU "First 2014" Program is designed to give high school juniors and seniors a look into the college life and how to get there.

Participants attended workshops to familiarize themselves with financial aid, academic majors, and campus life.

Current first generation ASU students shared their experiences with the prospective students as well, but every first year experience is different.

Fourteen schools were represented Friday, resulting in the largest turnout the University has seen.
