The Christoval Cougars entered Friday's game against a hungry Miles Bulldogs squad with second place in District 6-1A, Division 2 already locked up. They just had to hold off Miles who needed a win over Christoval and some outside help to have a chance to get into the playoffs.
The Cougars got things started early with a Jakob Whitworth rushing TD from one yard out. Miles tried to fight back but were hit with a morale-destroying injury. In the second quarter Miles' Kyle Fisher appeared to blow out his right knee as he landed awkwardly after attempting to make a catch.
The game was stopped for over 15 minutes as Fisher's leg was stabilized on the field. He was taken off the field on a stretcher. Players on both teams surrounded Fisher and patted him on the chest, wishing him well, as he was taken to get medical attention.
Christoval would score just a few minutes later and they would put down the Bulldogs, spoiling their playoff dreams winning 35 to 8.
