TLCA reaction to UIL Numbers 12-02-13

Most teams are moving up one classification number this time due to the addition of the 6A label. Texas Leadership Charter Academy is catching a tough break as they'll move up two classification numbers all the way to 3A and could potentially be paired with the likes of Sonora and Ballinger. Athletic Director Johnny Burleson explains how this happened.

Texas Leadership Charter Academy is catching a tough break as they'll move up two classification numbers all the way to 3A and could potentially be paired with the likes of Sonora and Ballinger. Athletic Director Johnny Burleson explains how this happened.

Johnny Burelson: "The thing that surprised me was they moved that number almost twenty, I was a little shocked by that. So we were only six over, we all went 'ouch'. It's a mindset, you just got to get ready and mentally prepare. Our kids came a million miles this year, so I don't think it's going to be like it was three years ago."

To reiterate, the new district assignments have NOT be announced, strictly the classification cutoff numbers, and by knowing what numbers school turned in they know which class they'll be placed. Now they wait for February to see who they get paired with for district games.
